The Deccan College of Engineering and Technology library is spread over an area 766 sq mtr of built-up area and seating capacity of 200 students. The DCET library has 8834 titles and 40911 volumes, and subscribing 96 National and 39 International journals and online e-journals subscription of IEEE, Wiley Blackwell (Civil, Mechanical, electrical, electronic and Computer science Engineering) and J-gage (Engineering and Technology).

Fully Computerised

The library uses NewGenLib Software for day to day operations. It is an open source software. *Marc 21 Format, Unicode based and web-enabled, has Linux operating systems, Virus free, Window Server, Bar coded technology for issue and return of books.

The library comprises of the following sections.

All the section of the library are computerized and the documents can be searched on OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) within the library.

Future Plan

  • The library is planning to keep open the library from 9.00 A.M to 6.00 P.M (in two shift)
  • 3M security system for controlling theft of the library documents.
  • CCTV surveillance Cameras.

Library Membership
All the bonafide student of the college, faculty and non teaching staff are eligible free membership. Application for membership should be made on the prescribed form which can from the library circulation counter.

GUIDELINES TO USERS OF LIBRARY

  • Members/ users have to produce their identity cards at the entrance and Sign the register at the entrance before entering the library.
  • Members/ users have to keep their personal belongings at the property counter, at the entrance
  • Users of Library are not permitted to take personal copies of the books or other print materials inside the library
  • Silence shall be strictly observed inside the library
  • Use of Cell phone is strictly prohibited inside the library
  • Books, journals, other documents, library equipments, etc., should be handled with care
  • Users have to leave five minutes before the closing hour of library
  • Library provides ‘open access’ facility. Users are advised not to replace The books on shelves. They may leave the books on tables after use. The book misplaced is a lost book
  • Marking, underlining, writing or defacing the books in the library in any form, if detected, will lead to fining and other punishments
  • Users will have to produce identity card along with the library ticket at the time of issue of books and other library documents
  • Three renewal is permitted to users. Further renewal of the same books is not entertained under any circumstances
  • Period of loan is 15 days for students and six month staff
  • Overdue charges of one Rs.1 day for a book will be levied from the borrowers after the due date. This is for six months. 7th month onwards fine is Rs.2 per day
  • Damaged or worn out books will not be issued to users
  • Users have to examine the books carefully and report damages if any to the assistant on the duty. The borrower will be held responsible for any damage discovered subsequent to the issue of book to him
  • A penalty of Rs. 50/- will be imposed when a date label or book pocket from the issued book is found missing or damaged
  • If an issued book is lost or damaged, the matter should be reported to the librarian immediately. Borrower has to replace it with a new copy of the same edition / subsequent edition within the due date. If it is not available in the market, three times the cost of the book and fine upto the date on which the book is replaced are to be paid
  • If the lost / damaged book is out of print, the price will be fixed according to the discretion of librarian, taking into account the importance of the demand for the book
  • Librarian reserves the right to recall at any time any book issued from the library. Library is also empowered to terminate the loan facility to any borrower, if he / she is found to infringe on library rules
  • When a ticket is lost, the matter should be brought immediately to be notice of librarian for necessary action
  • Loss of the library ticket will entail a fine of Rs. 100/-
  • Users / members have to surrender the library ticket when they leave the institution. ‘no dues certificate’ will be issued to a user, only after the ticket is returned and the dues, if any to the library are cleared
