        Department of physics in Deccan College of Engineering and Technology was established in 1984 under the aigies of Dar-Us-Salam Education.

Development in the Department

The intake in Deccan College of Engineering and Technology at time of inception was 180 students per year in four branches viz - ECE , Electrical , Mechanical and Civil . In the subsequent years this number got  a continuous increase and now the present intake is 500 students per year in eight branches  (ECE ,CSE, IT , EEE , Mechanical , Production , IE, Civil) looking at the increase in the number of seats in the college the department which used to run with the help of three staff members ,one Lab Assistant , now has five well qualified teachers supported by two lab Assistants ,one lab technician and three attendees who are always trying to improve their qualification by joining PhD, M.Tech or any other higher degree.



Space in the Department :

              The department of physics consists if three laboratories viz - Mechanics lab , Optics lab , Electronics lab with a total area of 2,550 sqft with an additional area of 380 sqft for staff cubicles.


   The department of physics is well equipped with the latest equipment to conduct practical for engineering students and the total number of experiments that can be perform by a student can reach up to 23 per year.


Result Analysis:

   The results of Engineering physics taught to BE First Year students of various branches in the university examination are encouraging and varies between 70 and 95% every year.
